Granite School District selected NJRA Architects to assist the District’s need in the planning, design and remodel of portions of Cottonwood High School. The School required additional classrooms and interior improvements to accommodate the addition of the 9th grade. The scope of the design work included new classrooms, lighting in the common areas, a new kitchen, new furniture, ADA upgrades to staff and student toilets, administrative office remodel, additional office space,
counseling center remodel, new roof with seismic upgrade, interior painting and flooring.
As the District undertook several time sensitive projects over the spring and summer of 2016, the District selected the NJRA team for our strong construction management skills for this project. Our team took the lead in ensuring accurate and quality construction documents above and beyond for this fast track project. We also communicated concisely and regularly with school and district administration regarding scope of work and budget. We kept change orders to a minimum through implementation of accurate plans and explicit specifications.
After the design development phase, we assessed the required construction work to be completed during the summer months of 2016. The District took our recommendation of splitting the work between two general contractors. The first bid package included the re-roofing and seismic upgrade work. The second bid package included all the remodel and classroom addition work. The critical areas were substantially completed by August 10, 2016.
